A Message from David Brault |
Dear Members,
We will be holding a membership drive over the summer from June 21 to September 20. The component of the drive that I would like to talk about today is peer to peer and personal recruiting. I am asking you to help recruit new members. As a member of the Chamber your recommendation to a fellow business person to join the Chamber will be very convincing. The person you approach may be a person you buy or sell products or services from or to, a person who has a business next door to yours, or a business person who belongs to the same group as you. The goal for this component of this drive is that each existing member successfully recruits one new member.
There are five simple steps to your participation:
- Consider who you could approach: who in someway would benefit from being a Chamber member.
- Download a copy of the membership application form or ask me for copies.
- Approach the prospective member; let them know why you are a member of the Chamber and find out what member benefit(s) might motivate them to join. Those benefits include having access the Chamber of Commerce Group Insurance Plan, access to the First Data / TD Merchant Services preferred rates on accepting Visa, MasterCard and Interact, Grand & Toy discounts, our breakfast, luncheon and after hours activities, being a good corporate citizen, member- to-member benefits, and receiving our newsletter - to name a few.
- Give them the membership form and follow up your discussion in a week or two.
- Give them my number (613-745-3578) or my email address (dbrault@gloucesterchamber.com) so I can answer other questions that they might have.
You will know the person you approach best, so do feel free to modify the approach to what you think would work to convince the person to join. I would be happy to support your efforts in recruiting a new member so let me know what I can do to assist.
The Eastern Ottawa Chamber of Commerce is a member driven organization and in many ways dependent on its members for its strength and growth. Help us bring new members to your Chamber.
Please call me at 613-745-3578 or via email at dbrault@gloucesterchamber.com if you have any questions or would like to meet me in the near future.
Sincerely,
David Brault President,
Eastern Ottawa Chamber of Commerce. |

ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
Date: Tuesday, August 19th
Time: 1:00 PM Shotgun Start
Location: Hammond Golf & Country Club
Mark Tuesday, August 19th in your calendar now! That will be the day of our golf tournament this year. This year we have decided to team up with the Orleans Chamber of Commerce to have one major tournament for businesses in the east end. Come out for a day of networking, building business relationships and FUN! Make your own foursome and bring along colleagues or clients, or ask to be placed in a foursome with other business people. As an added incentive to get your registration in early, we have secured 2 full-week passes to the CN Canadian Women's Open being held at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club the week before. To have your name in the draw for these passes, you must have submitted your registration and paid by July 3rd. A sell out is expected so register early. A portion of the proceeds to be donated to the Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre and the Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre.
