A Message from David Brault

Dear Members,

I would like to thank all those who have conveyed their best wishes to me in regards to my new position as President at the EOCC. It has been a very exciting and enjoyable seven weeks. Since my arrival, I have been going out to meet EOCC members. At each meeting I update the members on any matters that are important to them. I will continue to do this until I have personally visited all EOCC members.

A Message from the Chair

Spring is here and like an impatient gardener for the Eastern Ottawa Chamber of Commerce, I have an amplified vision fostering growth.

I envision the Eastern Ottawa Chamber of Commerce thriving with vigorous membership, colourful events, magnificant volunteers, and fresh business responsiveness in a first-class and vibrant community.

With the changes in Chamber staff and our mission statement to nurture what we have with the help of our volunteers, we will have the enjoyment of watching the EOCC grow with strength, variety, and cohesiveness.

Thank-you for helping to plant for the future. With full sun and a bit of water we prosper.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Our AGM will be held on Thursday, May 22nd at our monthly luncheon. The location of the luncheon and AGM is the Pineview Municipal Golf Course, 1471 Blair Road. There will be two by law amendments presented at this meeting. The first amendment is in regards to the number of members required for quorum at the AGM. Presently, the number of members required is 25; we will be changing that number to 10. The second by-law change will affect the number of persons required for the Board of Directors. Presently, the range is from 12 to 18; this number will be changed to 6 to 12. For further details please visit www.easternottawa.com

Strictly Business Breakfast

Please join us at our next Strictly Business Breakfast on Tuesday April 8th from 7:15am-8:30am. It will be held at Rothwell Hauck Gallery located at 1718 Montreal Road. At the breakfast, Cindy Quayle Hauck will lead an interactive discussion and tour of Ottawa's local art scene featuring Rothwell Hauck Gallery's artists.

EVENTS
We are introducing new events and format changes to existing events. for example we are going to have a series of "nine and dine" evenings as well as monthly after hours gatherings at members' bars and restaurants. The Strictly Business Breakfast will include catered events at members' places of business. Please look click here for more event information.

NEWSLETTER
The Commerce Courier is undergoing change both in format and method of delivery. It is being changed from an on line and hard copy format to an on-line format. We will working with members who do not have online access to assist them through this change. We will continue to work on the scope and content over the next few months. Your comments and concerns will serve as valuable tools for this transition.

WEBSITE
Web pages for EOCC Volunteers and for Employment Opportunities will be added to the EOCC website. the EOCC Volunteers page will be used to thank and recognize EOCC volunteers. The Employment Opportunities page will be available to EOCC members to post ads when looking for new employees. There is no charge for this added service.
